Spinning Babies

Spinning Babies looks at birth from a physiological perspective - birth is seen as a natural and healthy journey for the birth giver and the baby within. Mother and baby actively work together! We know that baby's position plays an strong role in the process and progress of birth. By knowing the relationship between fetal position and the space available in the womb, we can gently encourage shifts in baby’s position, and facilitate labor through stretches, movement, and hands-on techniques. Less force and medical intervention is needed. As a certified Spinning Babies Aware Practitioner, I can help you navigate your pregnancy, labor and childbirth with more ease.

Belly Mapping Guide

Belly Mapping helps identify a baby's position in the final months of pregnancy and in labor. It is a technique used during pregnancy to identify the position of a baby in the womb by feeling for distinct movements and bumps on the mother's abdomen, allowing her to determine if the baby is head-down, breech, or in another position, usually done in the later stages of pregnancy to prepare for labor and delivery; it involves paying close attention to where kicks, hiccups, and other movements are felt on the belly to map out the baby's orientation.

Breech Birth Quick Guide

Approximately 1 in 25 births are breech. Many breech babies will be born by cesarean birth. Some will be born vaginally whether they are planned or a surprise breech. Increased dependence upon cesarean for breech birth has led to the loss of hands-on skills for other potentially complex births. The revival of breech skills has been slowly growing, and as we increase safety, we must also increase our knowledge of when and how to help.
